Plush Organics – The difference between Certified Organic and Natural

I first stumbled across Plush Organics early in my quest to have an organic and cruelty free life for myself and my family.  What appealed to me about Plush Organics was their mission to provide optimal quality certified organic formulas to nourish, rejuvenate, beautify and transform the skin.  The integral part of that statement is that they offer certified organic cosmetics, not just natural products.

What’s the difference you ask?  Petra, the Founder of Plush Organics explains in her blog:

The main distinction between certified organic and natural cosmetics is that organic ingredients must pass more rigorous standards of purity. In order to be organic, an ingredient must have been derived without the use of synthetic pesticides, petroleum fertilizers or sewage sludge fertilizers, and it must not be a genetically modified organism (GMO.)

In an age where major manufacturers are relying on people’s ignorance about what toxic ingredients they put in their products to keep making the big bucks.  But there are some companies, like Plush Organics, who are going above and beyond to make sure their cosmetics are leaving a positive footprint on our environment.  Which I appreciate and support wholeheartedly.

  • I like using organic products. I never knew there was a difference between certified organic and natural.

  • Nice post. In the UK, the terms natural and organic are not regulated. It is like the wild, wild west sometimes. Thank you for following me, wish you well with your plans. Love your brand, smart!
