What book are you grateful for?
I love books. I have been an avid reader since my early teens. One of the first “adult” books I ever got was Shades of Twilight by Linda Howard.
As I teenager I instantly connected with the main character Roanna. At the start of the book she herself was a teenager. Socially awkward. An outcast. But despite all that she was still a force to be reckoned with.
It is a murder mystery/romance, very Mills & Boon in parts of the book. She falls in love with her second cousin Webb who always stood up for her when the rest of the family disliked her very presence. It is by no means a NY times best seller, but the murder mystery is suspenseful and the love story engaging. I have read it more time than I can count on both hands. I am a total sap and am the ultimate romantic at heart, so this book got me started on a lifelong obsession with romance novels.
There is nothing better than losing yourself in a great book and being transported into another person’s story. I am grateful to the Shades of Twilight for starting my appreciation of books and the escape from everyday life they bring.
