My Evening Skin Care Routine

Following on from my morning skin care routine, found here, this is my current evening skin care routine.  There are still plenty of non-organic products to be found, which I will specify below.

Blue Products are Cruelty Free but NOT Organic

Green Products are Cruelty Free and Organic

I won’t list all the non-organic ingredients below, just the scary ones.

CLEANSER:  (I didn’t photograph as it lives in my shower)

  • Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Cleanser (USD$7.99)
    • Contains:  Cocamidopropyl Betaine (a surfactant)
    • Glycolic Acid (AHA)
    • Triethanolamine (a surfactant & PH adjusting chemical)
    • Olive Oil PEG-7 Esters (a skin conditioning agent)
    • Polysorbate 20 (a surfactant and emulsifier)
    • Phenoxyethanol (a preservative)
    • Limonene (a fragrance and solvent)
    • Parfum (fragrance)
    • Benzyl Benzoate (a solvent and preservative)
    • Geraniol (a fragrance)
    • Citral (a fragrance)
    • Linalool (a fragrance)
      • I like using this cleanser at night as it gives a really good clean – my skin feels very smooth after using this.  I will not be repurchasing though as it is not organic.

TONER:

  • Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator (60ml AUD$33 or 120ml AUD$53)
    • Sometimes I get away with just using this product on its own.  It is super hydrating as the name suggests and tones at the same time.  The scent is super addictive – a sweet vanilla smell.  Uses ingredients like Aloe vera, Evening primrose, Marula and Seabuckthorn (to name a few) to soothe, increase circulation, plump and reduce the appearance of fine lines. Certified Organic.  Love this stuff!

PEELS & RETINOL:  I use a different product each night with a night off 2-3 nights a week

  • Bravura Glycolic Acid 10% (GBP$9.59)
    • Contains:  Glycolic Acid (AHA)
    • Sodium Hydroxide (a PH Adjuster)
      • Since using peels my skin has become smooth and the pigmentation over my whole face (from years of not using SPF) has been reduced.  I am going to have to find an all natural peel because I still have a way to go with getting rid of the pigmentation.  Any suggestions??
  • Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM Night Serum (AUD$82)
    • Contains: Cyclopentasiloxane (a skin conditioning agent)
    • Retinol (a skin conditioning agent)
    • Polysorbate 20 (a surfactant and emulsifier)
      • I bought this as it is one of the few over the counter retinols that has a fairly high concentrate of retinol.  Otherwise you need a prescription for a product like trentinoin.
  • Nip + Fab Exfoliate Glycolic Fix Night Pads (USD$14.95)
    • Contains: Glycolic Acid (AHA)
    • Triethanolamine (a surfactant and PH adjuster)
    • Polysorbate 20 (a surfactant and emulsifier)
    • Phenoxyethanol (a preservative)
    • Sodium Hydroxide (a PH Adjuster)
    • Benzyl Alcohol (a solvent and preservative)
    • Salicylic Acid (BHA)
    • Lactic Acid (AHA)
    • Limonene (a fragrance and solvent)
    • Parfum (a fragrance)
    • Benzyl Benzoate (a solvent and preservative)
    • Geraniol (a fragrance)
    • Butylphenyl Methylpropional (a synthetic fragrance)
    • Citral (a fragrance)
    • Linalool (a fragrance)
      • A good start for anyone wanting to try an acid peel.  Will not be repurchasing.

EYE CREAM:

  • Korres Brightening Eye Cream (AUD$50.00)
    • Contains: Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (a UV Absorber)
    • Parfum (fragrance)
    • Phenoxyethanol (a preservative)
    • Tocopheryl Acetate (a skin conditioning agent)
      • Smells nice.. That’s about it.  Will not be repurchasing.

OILS:

  • Tarte Maracuja Oil (15ml AUD$25.00 50ml AUD$56.00)
    • This was the first oil I bought.  It is very hydrating and sinks nicely into the skin.  But I will not be repurchasing as Tarte are owned by a NON-cruelty free parent company (see my thoughts on non-cruelty free parent companies here) and are NOT organic.
  • Sukin Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil (25ml AUD$12.73 50mlAUD$17.99)
    • Please note that this product is organic but the company as a whole is not organic, only vegan.
      • I really haven’t gotten around to using this oil too much as the smell is quite overpowering.  Bravo to Sukin for not putting in an artificial fragrance to cover it up, but I find the smell hard to get used to.  I will not be repurchasing.

MOISTURISER: I will not use an oil and a moisturiser in the morning but I do at night because I don’t mind looking like a greaseball when I know no one else will see me!

  • Korres Wild Rose Moisturising and Brightening Cream (AUD$42.00)
    • Alcohol Denatured (a anti-foaming agent)
    • Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone (a fragrance)
    • Benzyl Alcohol (a solvent and preservative)
    • Benzyl Benzoate (a solvent and preservative)
    • Benzyl Salicylate (fragrance and UV light absorber)
    • Butylphenyl Methylpropional (a synthetic fragrance)
    • Citronellol (a fragrance)
    • Eugenol (a fragrance)
    • Geraniol (a fragrance)
    • Hexyl Cinnamal (a fragrance)
    • Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde (a synthetic fragrance)
    • Lecithin (a skin conditioning agent)
    • Parfum (fragrance)
    • Phenoxyethanol (a preservative)
    • Sodium Hydroxide (a PH Adjuster)
    • Tocopheryl Acetate (a skin conditioning agent)
      • As you can probably tell from all the fragrance ingredients this is a very strong-smelling moisturiser.  But it smells like roses so I don’t find it unpleasant.  It’s a nice thick formula that I like to use at night.  Although it is a nice hydrating moisturiser I will not be repurchasing as it is not organic.

At night is when I like to do my masks (check out my Mask Madness post), I will do them after cleansing and sometimes after toning, depending on how my skin is feeling.  I try to do a mask once or twice a week.  More if I am having a shitty day.  I love putting on a mask  and reading a book.  That’s my “me time” and it’s a great way to unwind after a stressful day.

Do you have any recommendations for organic products I can use after I finish up these products ??
